Me: I gotta get closer! Sara: Just don't piss him off.

Darwin is full of crocs. No swimming today, folks.

Sara handing out snacks again--this time to an asian buffalo.

This is me licking a termite mound. The other people did not lick it. I can't say why.

Dude, seriously!

Awesome acrobatic parrots that live outside the Alice Springs Motor Inn. Jackie, the proprietor, has named them "Jack and Coke" and "Gin and Tonic". Jackie was a blast, obviously.

You's a long way from home, yankee.

There's a lot of weird stuff in Aussie public bathrooms, but this was easily the most intimidating thing I've seen to date.

Camel race pit stop. I never figured out how to change the tires, but we won somehow. Go Team Chak!

Gathering fire wood for our first night in the outback. Check out the bad ass truck we got to ride in. One day I'll have one of those--but mine will be purple. Bright metallic purple. Yeah.

One of the many great signs in Australia. Too bad there's two bogans ruining the picture with their dang shadows.

Bush tucker--food you can forage for in the bush, of course.

Sara was happy about being chosen to carry the bush tucker carrier.

These ladies taught us about the people who have lived around Uluru for tens of thousands of years. They were a lot of fun.

This is me talking with Sandrine, the Conehead (French) girl in our tour group. She asked me "what is koala?", and I was trying to describe it to her. My skill level in the French language is merde, but still I managed to tell her that a koala would be the result if an elephant made love to a dog. For some reason she still didn't understand what a koala was. Oh, Uluru is behind us.

We awoke in the dank, cold darkness so we could see these giant rocks glow different shades of orange in the sunrise. To my surprise, it was actually worth it.

Hot coals on the bottom and top of the pot. It's an interesting way to cook. But what's inside?
Posted by Picasa

This is damper! Bread cooked in the coals of a camp fire. Woo yeah!

After a long day of hiking in cold weather, there's nothing like burning some stuff to make you feel better.

This is an "EMERGENCY RADIO". You're pretty much screwed if you get hurt out here--it's gotta be like 57 hours to the nearest hospital--but at least you can tell someone about the pain.

Sara thought she was the first one to the top. Yay cutie! I'll have to photoshop those other tourists out of the picture before I show her this.

We climbed trails like this every day in the outback. So much fun!
Posted by Picasa

Sara tempting fate.

Our guide Chris trying to find us a witchity grub (to eat). He was a ranga and a kiwi, but none of us gave him crap for it.

Sunset in the outback. Sweetness.
